The Orphan Queen Is Here

Tuesday, 10 March 2015
Hello Fellow Book Lovers,

So a few months ago, I wrote this review ( on a book sample that I got for The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows, and since then, I've been eagerly anticipating its release (which is today if you didn't know).

In essence, The Orphan Queen is this epic high fantasy (and, in case you didn't know, that is my favourite genre) about a group of orphans. Particularly one girl (could you tell by the title?) whose kingdom was stolen from her.

And so, she must now (along with the other orphans in her group called the Ospreys) find a way to get her kingdom back. But this kingdom has banned magic because it produces this pollution-like thing.

I would also like to point out that:

1) There are multiple boys in this story to fangirl about.

2) There is a cliffhanger at the end of this book (or so I've heard).

3) It's only a duology (two books in the series) but there are going to be four novellas as well.

4) This book has a great cover. It's very pretty and will look gorgeous on your shelf.

Here it is:

I really want that cloak, Like, now.

Here's the official synopsis:

Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.

She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.

She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.

She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others
Jodi Meadows introduces a vivid new fantasy full of intrigue, romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s battle to reclaim her place in the world.
