The Winner's Crime Is Here

Tuesday, 3 March 2015
Hello Fellow Book Lovers,

Can you tell that I'm excited? (In case you can't, I'm VERY excited.)

So I figure today would be a really good day to explain to you all why you should go read the Winner's Trilogy if you haven't done so already (because the second book came out today so you can just marathon the first two).

Basically, The Winner's Curse (Book 1) starts with a girl named Kestrel buying a person because in her world, where the Valorians have conquered the Herrani, prisoners of war are bought as slaves. What she doesn't know is that the slave (whose name is Arin) has a very dangerous secret. Like a HUGE secret. Like one of those OMG WHAT JUST HAPPENED kind of secrets.

For fans of high fantasy (especially if you enjoy worlds without magic that are still amazing and will leave you in awe when you finish the book), The Winner's Curse will leave you begging for The Winner's Crime. (So it's a good thing it comes out today.)

Still not convinced? Here's the book trailer. It's pretty cool. Okay, really cool.

Maybe you should look at the pretty covers. I heard that these are some of the prettiest covers you'll ever lay eyes on.

Aren't they gorgeous? They'll also look incredible on your shelves. Trust me.

Try reading the prequel short story called Bridge of Snow. It is utterly beautiful (and free online).

Maybe if I give you a proper synopsis you'll understand why these books are incredible.

Winning what you want may cost you everything you love.

As a general's daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions. One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin's eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It's not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin. But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

Yeah, the first book is one of my all-time favourites and I can't wait to get my hands on book two.
